Redondo Red – Call It (Official Music Video)

Written by on April 20, 2020

Redondo Rocks a warehouse party the night before he debuts his new single, “Call It,” on the Bobby Lassiter show. In a Hunter S Thompson homage him and his driver race through the desert in a 69 Firebird in hopes to make it to the show on time.

While hiking a volcano in Maui with with white chucks on his feet and a bottle of rum in his hand Redondo Red started flowing the main hook to his new song Call It. “Black Rum on the black rock, white chucks on the Black Top, Daft punk make the beat pop and when the beat the rock you know the street hop.” This was back in 2016 and this hook and idea for a Song came to life last year when Redondo Red met Producer and frontman of Magic Bronson Mike Nicastro at a bar in LA. The two were introduced by a mutual friend and connected on bands they were into and the type of music they wanted to create. After a few days in the studio they were trying to finish their first song together. After toiling over a certain section of the song for over an hour or two and getting burnt out they took a break and walked down to some bars in Highland Park. On the walk back to the studio Redondo Red pitched him this idea for a new song and sang that, “Black Rum on the black rock,” hook and the first verse of the song that flew to him on that volcano in Maui a few years back. Mike was into it and could see the potential of where it could go. They stayed up all night and recorded the entire song in one session. They struck lightning in a bottle that night because this catchy, energetic, electronic groove makes a statement. It’s unique. It’s got swagger and it’s got soul. It has a fun, carefree, catchy flow to it that glides over a banger beat that’ll have you head bobbin in your car or dancing in your white chucks at a warehouse party near you.
